When asked about their sessions with Susan, clients often say, “She is easy to talk to and I feel very comfortable with her, even when I’m talking about difficult things.  I can tell that what I think and feel really matters to Susan and that she is not judging me. I feel like a more resilient person after our time together.”
Susan considers it a great privilege to join her clients in their work of healing and personal growth.  She brings energy and curiosity to their work together as well as professional expertise. She does not sit stoically and silently in the room, but is rather deeply engaged and interested in her client’s experiences.  Her primary approach is interpersonal while also pulling from skills associated with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems.

Susan is originally from Raleigh, NC and moved to Wilmington in 2017 with her husband and two young children after living eight years in Georgia.  She graduated from Davidson College with honors in Psychology and earned her Masters of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University as well as her Masters of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary.

Susan has been serving as a psychotherapist since 2005 and has experience working with pre-teens, adolescents, college students, and adults of all ages.  Susan offers therapy for individuals, couples, and families experiencing grief, depression, anxiety, self-harm tendencies, trauma, history of physical and sexual abuse, relationship issues, and issues of faith and spirituality.
