Ben T. Rigby, Ph.D.

Staff Psychologist

Developing a supportive and respectful relationship with clients is the cornerstone of Ben’s work in therapy. His approach is most strongly aligned with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). This approach helps clients become more aware of their patterns of thoughts and behaviors and how those are affecting their mood and overall well-being. Ben works collaboratively with clients in applying their improved self-understanding to identify more effective ways to deal with situations and meet their goals. Ben also strives to identify client’s strengths and help them not only alleviate problems but to thrive and excel. To that end, he often incorporates tools and strategies from the positive psychology movement and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Ben offers therapy for individuals dealing with adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, developmental difficulties (e.g., ADHD, Autism Spectrum), life transitions, OCD, and stress. He offers therapy for couples and families dealing with communication and relationship issues and/or significant changes, as well as issues related to parenting and behavior management.

From 2002-2003, he completed a post-doctoral residency and then held an eight-year post as the lead psychologist for a private, multidisciplinary non-profit practice in Greenville, SC.
